Ethnos Missions Training (EMT)

The EMT is a transformative ten-week training course dedicated to equipping and mobilizing students.

Our curriculum, taught by passionate and experienced leaders in global ministry, concentrates on fostering a disciple-making journey.

Participants will dive into cross-cultural missions, study world religions, engage in evangelism and actively partake in outreaches within South Africa.

All three intakes of EMT have opportunities to participate in our bi-annual Reach Conference, while EMT 2 and EMT 3 additionally offer outreach opportunities through the For Freedom movement.

Location:

EMT takes place at Carmel Coastal Retreat, just outside of George in the Western Cape. Here, amidst diverse cultures and nations, students learn how to serve one another while navigating life collectively.

Carmel’s setting encourages reflection, allowing students to process their experiences together or seek quiet moments with views of the breathtaking ocean and nearby mountain ranges.

Accommodation:

Ethnos partners with Carmel, providing shared accommodations for our staff and students. Please note that all rooms are shared, with very limited private options available. Most rooms do not have ensuite bathrooms, but shared toilet facilities are conveniently located nearby. If you have any questions or preferences, feel free to inform us, and we'll do our best to assist you.

Schedule & Curriculum

Our day starts at 8 AM with Discovery Bible Study, worship, or prayer -- a collective moment in God's presence, complementing personal Bible study.

Morning classes provide diverse teachings until lunch. In the afternoon or early evening, students participate in required outreach activities, connecting theory with hands-on experiences. These activities include service at Carmel, exposure to various ministries, and street evangelism.

EMT is designed to blend spiritual connection, learning, and meaningful service.

At Ethnos, many of us are actively involved in ministry on Saturdays and Sundays. As a result, we have collectively designated Mondays as a day of rest.
